"Wall hanging for a friend"

I dont often feel sorry for myself, but these past 10 days have been pretty awful. I had to have two caps done, which cost me 1000$, and one of them has a really bad infection and the nerve is dying and I have been in pain for the past week. I just came back from the dentist, and  found out I have to have a root canal done next week. Due to this, I have to cancel my summer holidays. And my shoulder pain is back..so I apoligize for I have not, nor will be commenting as much on all your beautiful postings. I just had to make something today; I was just so stressed out and depressed. So I made this gift for a friend who has an upcoming Birthday...xoxoxo

Etude de Roses...

I have always wanted to paint; I find the vision very romantic. I spend a lot of time on my deck in the summer, and cannot make my cards out there; much too humid for paper. So I thought I would teach myself how to paint...we will see....this idea may pass by very quickly...

This is just me fooling around...

Well, You didn't expect a Picasso now did you?...LOL...

"Coucou Sophie" Card

Well my nieces are keeping me busy this week-end! On my husband's side this time; they had a BABY GIRL yesterday !!!  What a great excuse to go all girly girl, which is perfect since the last card I made was grungy. I love both styles, but I find myself needing to alternate.

On top of that I had wanted to enter The Shabby Tea Room challenge; Debbie asks us to use pink and green,  which is one of my favorite combos, as well as flowers.Coucou means Peekaboo, but the literal translation is NeckNeck , which is very applicable since we do use our necks a lot when playing peekaboo don't we!!
Here is the inspirational pic; isn't that lovely...

And here is my card....

A tribute to my Dad....

My dad passed away when I was 25, he was 71. He was a simple, kind man. My parents never learnt how to drive, so my Dad would take his bike everywhere ( or the plane  LOL he worked as a mecanic for Air Canada,  the biggest and best  Airline at the time); a trip to the store 15 minutes away would take him an hour because he would stop and chat with everyone. My dad was one of those guys who worked with his hands; he was always making and fixing things. And this is my all time favorite picture of us both, unknowingly taken by my brother....

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful Dads out there....xoxooxox

PS Pipe smoking was very A la Mode in those days.....

"jagged softness" card...

Hello bloggerettes, hope you are all well. My niece e-mailed me this morning asking if I could make a card for her TODAY for a very special couple who are having their birthdays. I was planning on resting this
week-end, but I could not say no to my darling niece. So I whipped up this card, based on the inspirational photo at For Your Inspiration, and took quick pics before giving it to her.

Here in the photo inspiration :

I had seen this flower tutorial in Cloth, Paper, Scissors and decided to try it out for this challenge. I felt the petals were a good interpretation of the jagged rocks in the photo and my background paper reminds me of water. And the contrast of textures of rough, jagged and soft, flowing....

Some twisting rope, movement like the waterfall....

The inside; some Prima chipboards, and a bit of blue lace....

And the back, inks, paints, stamped with bubble wrap, and added inka-gold....

I am really happy with it, and I think they will like it; they are both artists and avid gardeners...Hugz...

Big Band Era Card

Hello there, My sister-in-law made this request : "I would like a special card for my step-mom, who is over the top, has fond memories of the big band era, and dancing..."

I initially started off making a poodle skirt, and it was kinda cute, but then I saw this embossed paper, and thought how cool to cut it up, and use it as folds for a skirt....I used a beautiful fabric on the front of the card, which I felt reflected the movement of the skirt. I used a polka dot ribbon, a pattern used a lot in that era, and I made a gate-fold style to link it up to Top Tip Tuesday .But I am worried the front looks too much like a wedding card....What do you think ?

These are the curtains and lights ...

This is the inside; collage style...

This is saxophone music...

And this is the little envelope/purse to tuck it in...I rarely make my envelopes out of fabric, but I love my sister-in-law very much, and she loves her step-mom, so a little extra treat for them... I do love making them....lots of nice buttons, lace handle and my shabby chic flowers with the scraps....

"Bamboo" collage

Hi, I made this a while ago at my girlfriends place in the country.
It was the beginning of the season for this bamboo to grow on her property.
She picked a bagful of it for me, and I made this collage.
It dries very well and keeps in good condition for a long time...

In school, we used it in our flower arrangements when it was at maturity. It was really fun because you could put a wire mesh in the hollowness of it, and bend it...My partner and I used it here in our end of the year project..these are all fresh flowers....xoxoxo
