Nope, not a blog challenge that I found difficult. This challenge was given to be by my best friend : to make a wedding card for her niece with a hockey theme because they are both at school on a hockey scholarship and Hockey is a big part of their relationship...
Oh boy, I thought, this is gonna be tough...So I found these old hockey sticks and the Score that I put in the middle. So, now I could join the Papertrey challenge, which is to get inspired by an old embellishment that has just been gathering dust...
Next I decided to use the team colors of their favorite team, the Montreal Canadians, Red, White and dark Blue....Which are colors I do not like...look around my closet and my home, those colors will not pop out at you !!!
Oh, did I mention I dont like Hockey ?
Next I decided to print out a skating rink and decorate that to size....that part was not too bad....
made some flowers, lace lines, glittered lines and so on...
I wanted to use a banner, you know sports, banner....I wanted it to be looped, but I ran out of room...This card is big enough as is, so I put it straight across...Cut out some hearts and glittered them and embossed my letters in blue...I felt HURRAY was appropriate for hockey and as a wedding sentiment...
Can you see the blue ice effect I created using Perfect Pearls spray and Glossy Accents ?
I really hope they love it !!! it was hard to find the balance between tacky/corny and fun ...What do you think ? this is the inside, modge podged some japanese papers, red rafia ( representing the veil), and added a prima card...
This is incredible! Love how you were able to incorporate so many crafty items into a sports theme! And the colors are great! The glossy accents rink idea was perfect! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing over at Papertrey Playhouse!
Holy Cow! How on earth do you do it! This is phenomenal! Seriously, ice?! Wow! I also love how heritage and glamerous this sporting themed card is! This is amazing! Now take a well earned bow and soak up all your well deserved applause. X
ReplyDeleteI almost fainted :) No just kidding but it's amazing to see that you can add so many elegant items into a "sports" card. This is a wedding gift of its own; a piece of art and they should frame it. And hang it in their living room.
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job; I love it to pieces!
Love and hugs,
Stella

Didn't I tell you that you Aced this challenge. Still baffled as to how you created something with such elegance to the theme of hockey!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Stella, I am sure the happy couple will frame this as it is so much more than a wedding card it is filled with their memories.
Now I wonder what is next on your agenda?
