One World One Heart 2011

Hello Everyone, I am so excited to be part of this wonderful exchange. My name is Gisèle, and I live in Québec, Canada; french is my mother tongue, so please feel free to leave your comments in french or english. I am primarily a card maker, but have started venturing out into mixed media lately. I have always dabbled in this and that, but started making my cards after an accident that left me with an injured nerve in my neck, which is very painful and causes me restricted mobility. I can honestly say that art changed and saved my soul...I have a beautiful garden with a wide variety of flowers...I love paper, paint, textures, stones, beads, wire, colors... I have learnt so much in the past year from beautiful and generous bloggers...I am honored to offer these 3 cards to one lucky active blogger who leaves me a comment, with contact information. I will e-mail, as well as post,  the winner on February 17th, 2011. Now, I am off to visit all of you across the world..
Bon Voyage tout le monde !!!

"Old Hollywood Romance" Card

What a beautiful sunny day...Today I felt like going over the top a bit...And of course with Valentine's just around the corner, romance is in the air...So here is one of my interpretations of romance ...I love the Webster's Hollywood Vogue paper, but I really dislike the roses combined with the daisies...To me, these roses are soft, romantic, luxurious, and daisies are field flowers, they're fun and abundant...I guess the florist in me is coming out  ( I have my certificate and worked in that domain for a year)...So I fancy cut the paper, inked the edges, applied some bling and some glossy accent on the tail, as well as some of the roses.
I stamped and heat embossed the chandelier; I must say I love embossing, and if you said I could only have one bottle, I would choose this one, I just adore it....Added some bling, of course, to the chandelier
....Inside, I used an embossed paper, added a Webster's tag, a Websters silver trim and some Graphic 45 cut out roses....

Products used : Papers: DCWV Mariposa and Webster's pages Hollywoood Vogue; Rangers Glossy Accents, Tim Holtz Wild Honey Distress Ink, Prima Annalee Canvas Chipboard, Webster's Pages Hollywood Trim, Graphic 45 Le Romantique...beads and bling were gifted to me...

"Inspire" Card

Hi there, today I wanted to work with a color combination of blue and mauve; so soft and calming. My base paper is Basic Grey Wisteria White Dynasty, the doily is packaging from Prima. I border punched and pleated some crepe paper around the doily and added some pearls to it. The crocheted flowers, as well as the mini roses, are from "I am roses",http://www.iamroses.com/ a fabulous, inexpensive supplier of flowers. The one in the middle I made myself, super quick and easy, below that, such a darling little one, is a Webster's pages Whimsey; I bought these on E-bay at YourScrapBookSupply http://stores.ebay.com/yourscrapbooksupply(Oh My Gosh, compared to Canada, I paid about half price for everything, and she gave me an excellent quote for shipping ). I don't usually promote my suppliers, but these two are worth mentionning.  Anyhow, back to my card; I glued down various beads gifted to me, added a in Prima Say it in pea rls Grey corner, my cut out is from BoBunny persuasion. I am showing the word INSPIRE because it can be used in french ( most of my clients are french speaking), or english....The inside is a Prima chipboard....I am very happy with the outcome... Bye for now....

"I've got my eye on you" mixed media wall hanging...

Hello blogerettes, hope your day is treating you well....So,yesterday I decided I wanted to work with fabric. My girlfriend gave me a box of sample fabric, and in it was this piece which I was immediately attracted to...I loved the colors, the texture, the pattern...So, I went for it with a devil may care attitude, fear and insecurities pushed aside, and plunged right in....I am working on being less symmetrical and "less is more"...My husband loves my work, but says I have a tendency to over-embellish, and I think that comes from being insecure about my work...
So, took a canvas, mixed up a color, did some painting, used my Prima masks and glimmer misted here and there in pink, then there and here in irrediscent gold...Mixed another color together, trying to complement the teal, and painted that in using another mask. Did some gold distressed embossing with a beautiful new stamp the hubby bought for me; inked the edges with my favorite TH distressed ink. Added a beautiful button gifted to me, and an ornate plate around it....I wanted to give the effect of an aged piece.. And I resisted the urge to do anymore to it...I walked away, and today I picked it up and looked at it and said; yes, it is finished...
And Voila...

finished...And Voila....

"Iris folding" Kimonos

I love Japanese art. I made the following kimonos using the iris folding technique. I did not make the patterns myself. If you dont know this technique, it is very simple, and a lot quicker that it looks. It is repetitive, but I love going through my papers, and finding the ones I want to use based on color, design and texture...And I find the outcome beautiful...Here are a few I have made...

"Circle of love" Card

Hello lady bloggers, hope your day is going smoothly...I used a Websters Pages die cut for my base, as well as the interior of the card; I glimmer misted it with TA Iridescent Gold; added some Websters gold fleck trim; the red and green flowers are from Prima, the little orange one is from K and co., and the leaves are K and Co. Wild Saffron. I thought it would be nice to have the gold key, from K and Co.metal art keys, as the banner holding up the bird cage ( which I wanted to put on foam squares, but it was too high in conjunction with the key). The Cage and the butterfly I cut out from my newly acquired, now on the top of my fav. list LOL, DCWV Mariposa papers. Made my charm hanging from beads my sister-in-law gave to me, added the little heart at the end in honor of Valentines day. It's all shimmery and purrrrty....Bye for now...Hugs...

"L'envol créatif"

hello there, hope your Sunday is going well...One of my resolutions was to step out of my comfort zone of cardmaking, and make a mixed media wall hanging....I received this gorgeous feather as a x-mas present, and wanted to give it a canvas to express itself on...I painted my canvas all black, then used a Prima mask to apply my red paint...I inked and border punched (MS double loop all around the page )a paper (gifted)I found very pleasing for its unusual color and great texture. I cut out some wings from the Bo Bunny, Gypsy paper, inked the edges. Added a lace ( gifted to me by my lovely brother Paul)to the bottom of this, as well as the complete left side of the canvas. I used various beads and buttons ( the big orange ones came from a bracelet I no longer wore, the others were gifted to me) to make a hanging charm.
I took a K. and Co. border paper and heat embossed it with the Tim Holtz distressed powder, which I love because it makes the embellishment look vintagy and gives a grungy texture. I really love the outcome of it and gave it to my hubby as an early Valentines gift.(I could'nt keep it from him any longer than a few hours...I am very childish that way LOL).....He loved it...Yeah....

"Mended heart" card

Hi ladies, this card came together by itself...funny how we have on days and off days...this is one of those cards that look so much better in person...I love the outcome of it, it feels to me vintagy and romantic. Nothing much to say about the making of it; lots of layers, and cutting out shapes, some border punches, edge inking, Bo Bunny "Gypsy paper",K and Co. "Jubilee" paper, a few pearls, and some beautiful K and Co. soft roses...Simple and elegant....I tend to overdo it on my cards, so I am working with the " less is more " motto. LOL..Thanks for watching..Hugs...

"Loops of love" Card

Hello again, I am on a roll making valentine cards, but not the traditonal style.
This one I had such a hard time making...just one of those days I guess...When I showed it to my hubby, who has an excellent eye for art, there was more on the card, and he said no too much, and you are breaking up your line...I took it off, and he was right. The paper is the wonderful, thick Prima, Fairy Flora, Sunny Day.
The edge is punched out using the MS double loop, punch around the page , love love this new tool of mine....The lace is from the dollarama...I cut the heart and dried embossed it with tim Holtz gold embossing powder, button was gifted to me, the element is from K and Co. I used TA glimmer mist and Tim Holtz ink on my "I am roses" flower. The inside is a Prima , fairy flora chipboard. I really love the shape of the card. I found it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AidVadGkKjo. Hugs...

"Midnight Prom" card

Hello, I had so much fun making this dress card. I used Bo Bunny paper, scallopped the edges, used one of the journalling tags , cut it in thirds, and put it on backwards; the brads are Recollections. I made the dressform by hand, layered one by one some pink ribbon ( gifted to me), added a different ribbon for the belt, put a beautiful silver button ( gifted), wrapped some gorgeous black organza(gifted) and made a tie at the shoulder, added a flower from the skirt. Used some shimmering gold embossing for the body, and a prima say it in pearls for her necklace ( cut out a tiny section). For the inside, I used the remaining tag, punch out the corners using my new MS double loop all around the page punch and cut off the remaining pink card part. I am really happy with the results; I wanted it to be classy , but cool.

I made the dress, loved it. added my papers, put the dress on, looked at it and it was ok, but not WOW...then i decided to put 3 holes, add the same organza I used for the top, and some brads, and then the magic happenned....my hard work paid off and I loved it !!! makes my day...Bye ...

"Underwater creatures" Box

Hello, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!! The woman who bought my previous box asked me to make one the same size to put in her bedroom, which has turquoise and shells as decor.I used another wooden box from the Dollarama, someJubilee K and Co. paper (I told you I loved it :-)), it is so rich in design..I also used some textured paper I received at x-mas for the pillars and the inside...some seashells...added a BoBunny button I won on a posting, and added beads (another x-mas gift)to it, a plume my hubby gave to me for my b-day, some "I am Roses" skeleton leaves...added a flower on the side that made me think of a seahorse, and some bling on the other side;its a lot of work cutting up all that paper evenly and gluing it down...oh well,,,as long as she loves it, its worth it....It took me a long time to get that plume to sit exactly where I wanted it...I really enjoyed making the bead strands...I wanted to be a jeweler when I was much younger...I will definitely work with beads a lot more this year...
Bye, Bye

"Altered Box"

Hello, this is a wooden box bought at the dollarama...I modge podged it with Jubilee k and co. paper, which I adore, added a glass flower I've had forever, a maya road fluffed velvet flower, a prima butterfly, some "I am roses" leaves, and a stick pin I made....I stamped and embossed flowers, and put them on the inside...It sold very quickly...
